Default Windows 7

Does anyone here have Windows 7 yet? I'm just curious what you think of it and if it really is an improvement over Vista or just hype. I've heard it won't be long before XP is no longer supported. I'm not sure what will happen to my older XP computer then, because I certainly don't plan on installing a new version of Windows on it.

Yeah, I'm kind of stuck on Windows XP myself. And yes, I heard they will be discontinuing support fairly soon. If I ever upgrade, it will probably be when I buy a new computer, when I have no choice.

Actually, I don't know much about Windows 7, although I have heard nothing but complaints about Windows Vista.

I do still favor XP, although as I said in the Vista thread, I haven't had any major problems with Vista, but there are a few things I don't like about it. I guess at some point we are all going to have to give up XP permanently. Windows 7 doesn't seem to have as many complaints as Vista. Here are some interesting articles:

Oh, I thought you were only using XP. Anyway, I'm not too worried about it myself. I'll just deal with it when the time comes.

I have XP on my old computer and Vista on the newer one. I'm not worried about it either, just curious.

Windows 7 is great if you don't intend to use a lot of the Microsoft programs that used to be included in Windows, like Windows Movie Maker. These programs are not preinstalled in Win 7, you only install them if you want to.

Win 7 still have the functionality of Vista, and the Start-menu is improved even further from Vista.

Thanks for the info, Human! So, Windows 7 is different than Vista in that way? My Vista came with Movie Maker. Are those programs free to install, if we want to install them? I think they might have made that change because so many people complain about computers coming with too many unwanted programs preinstalled. Vista has less than XP did, so it appears that they keep cutting back with each release.

They may be free to download from the net voluntarily, similarly to Windows Update. I don't think they will take any extra charge for it.
